What is Ozempic (Semaglutide)?
Ozempic, also called Semaglutide injection, is a prescription drug used for managing Type-2 Diabetes sustainably. It belongs to the class of drugs called GLP-1 RAs that help in lowering blood sugar levels.
This medication contains Semaglutide as a major active ingredient that mimics the naturally occurring hormone called incretin. As a result, the blood sugar is controlled effectively, especially when used after meals.
Can you use Ozempic by yourself?
Ozempic dosage is not ideal to use by yourself. It is applied under the skin and once a week at a specific time with or without meals. Also, this medicine is used on the same day each week. Seek help from your medical care provider to apply this injection properly.
What to do if you miss a dose?
This injection is usually taken once a week and at the same time. So, if a dose is missed and you are reminded of it, use it immediately. But, avoid compensating for missed doses if your next dose is another day. Similarly, do not use multiple injections to catch up with missed dosage.
How does it work?
Ozempic strikes balance in blood sugar levels by increasing insulin release and reducing glucagon in the bloodstream. Glucagon is a hormone mainly responsible for raising blood sugar levels while insulin transports blood sugar from the bloodstream to the cells in the body.
This further allows the body to be energetic. By controlling the functions of these hormones, this Sitagliptin drug stabilizes blood sugar, thus leading to diabetes management.
